Background gauge renormalization and BRST identities
J Frenkel, J C Taylor

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates how BRST identities can be utilized to manage background gauge renormalization in QCD, providing an all-orders renormalized effective action despite the omission of certain graphs.
Contribution
It introduces a method to control background gauge renormalization in QCD using BRST identities, including all orders of perturbation theory.
Findings
BRST identities effectively control background gauge renormalization
All orders renormalized effective action derived
Omission of one-particle reducible graphs does not hinder renormalization
Abstract
We show that the BRST identities can be used to control the renormalization of the background gauge in QCD, in spite of the fact that one-particle reducible graphs have to be omitted. We obtain the all orders renormalized affective action for the background field theory.
