Full-depth snow avalanches
Francois Louchet

TL;DR
This paper proposes a new modeling approach for full-depth snow avalanches based on field observations, classifying snow types and using healable granular media dynamics to understand flow and arrest processes.
Contribution
It introduces a novel modeling framework for full-depth avalanches using healable granular media dynamics, based on field observations and snow classification.
Findings
New classification of snow types for avalanche modeling
A proposed model for flow and arrest processes in avalanches
Application of healable granular media dynamics to snow avalanches
Abstract
On the basis of field observations and of a tentative classification of the different types of snow, a modeling of the different possible types of full-depth avalanches is proposed. A new approach for flow and arrest processes is suggested, in terms of healable granular media dynamics.
