Mian Zhang, Cheng Wang, Rebecca Cheng, Amirhassan Shams-Ansari, Marko, Loncar

TL;DR
This paper presents a monolithic lithium niobate photonic platform with ultrahigh quality factor microring resonators and extremely low propagation loss, advancing integrated photonics technology.
Contribution
It introduces a monolithic fabrication method for ultrahigh-Q lithium niobate microring resonators with record low loss.
Findings
Quality factor of 10^7 achieved
Propagation loss as low as 2.7 dB/m
Demonstration of monolithic integration
Abstract
We demonstrate an ultralow loss monolithic integrated lithium niobate photonic platform consisting of dry-etched subwavelength waveguides. We show microring resonators with a quality factor of 10 and waveguides with propagation loss as low as 2.7 dB/m.
