TL;DR
This study searched for excited $B_c^+$ states in proton-proton collision data but found no evidence, setting upper limits on their production ratios relative to the ground state within specific mass ranges.
Contribution
First search for excited $B_c^+$ states in the $B_c^{+} o B_c^{+}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ channel using LHCb data, establishing upper limits on their production ratios.
Findings
No evidence for the excited states was observed.
Upper limits on production ratios range from 0.02 to 0.14.
Mass ranges for the limits are specified between 6795 and 6890 MeV/c^2.
Abstract
A search is performed in the invariant mass spectrum of the system for the excited states and using a data sample of collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at the centre-of-mass energy of , corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . No evidence is seen for either state. Upper limits on the ratios of the production cross-sections of the and states times the branching fractions of and over the production cross-section of the state are given as a function of their masses. They are found to be between 0.02 and 0.14 at confidence level for and in the mass…
