TL;DR
This paper reviews theoretical ideas about heavy exotic mesons that don't fit traditional quark models and suggests observables to identify their internal structure.
Contribution
It introduces conjectures on the structure of heavy exotic mesons and proposes measurable observables to distinguish their components.
Findings
Identification of key observables for meson structure analysis
Sketch of theoretical models for heavy exotic mesons
Guidelines for experimental verification
Abstract
Some of the currently most popular conjectures for the structure of the recently discovered heavy mesons that do not find a place in the quark model quarkonium spectrum are sketched. Furthermore, some observables are identified that should allow one to identify the most prominent components of individual states.
