Non-leptonic kaon decays at large $N_c$
Andrea Donini, Pilar Hernandez, Carlos Pena, Fernando Romero-Lopez

TL;DR
This paper investigates how kaon decay amplitudes scale with the number of colors $N_c$, using lattice QCD for $N_c=3$ to $7$, revealing small corrections for $ ext{B}_K$ but large, anti-correlated corrections in $K o ext{pi pi}$ decays, impacting the $ ext{Delta I}=1/2$ rule.
Contribution
It provides the first lattice QCD study of kaon decay amplitudes across multiple $N_c$ values, highlighting the different $1/N_c$ correction behaviors.
Findings
Small $1/N_c$ corrections for $ ext{B}_K$ close to the large $N_c$ limit.
Large, anti-correlated $1/N_c$ corrections in $K o ext{pi pi}$ amplitudes.
Implications for understanding the $ ext{Delta I}=1/2$ rule.
Abstract
We study the scaling with the number of colors of the weak amplitudes mediating kaon mixing and decay, in the limit of light charm masses (). The amplitudes are extracted directly on the lattice for (with preliminar results for and ) using twisted mass QCD. It is shown that the (sub-leading) corrections to are small and that the naive limit, , seems to be recovered. On the other hand, the corrections in amplitudes (derived from matrix elements) are large and fully anti-correlated in the and channels. This may have some implications for the understanding of the rule.
