TL;DR
This paper demonstrates how transverse spherical M5-branes in M-theory can be described within the plane wave matrix model by applying localization techniques to relate brane configurations to scalar field moduli.
Contribution
It provides a novel matrix model realization of transverse M5-branes in a maximally supersymmetric pp-wave background using localization.
Findings
Transverse M5-branes are represented as scalar field moduli distributions.
Localization reveals the brane configurations within the matrix model.
Zero light cone energy M5-branes are explicitly realized in PWMM.
Abstract
We consider matrix theoretical description of transverse M5-branes in M-theory on the 11-dimensional maximally supersymmetric pp-wave background. We apply the localization to the plane wave matrix model (PWMM) and show that the transverse spherical fivebranes with zero light cone energy in M-theory are realized as the distribution of low energy moduli of the scalar fields in PWMM.
