TL;DR
This paper compares two common methods for measuring the etch-rate ratio in PET nuclear track detectors across various ion energy loss regimes and introduces a new calibration curve for PET.
Contribution
It provides a comparative analysis of existing methods and presents a new calibration curve for PET detectors, enhancing measurement accuracy.
Findings
Different methods perform variably depending on ion energy loss regimes.
The new calibration curve improves the accuracy of PET detector measurements.
The study guides optimal method selection for different experimental conditions.
Abstract
Two widely used methods of determining the etch-rate ratio in poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) nuclear track detector are compared. Their application in different regimes of ions energy loss is investigated. A new calibration curve for PET is also presented.
