TL;DR
This study measured the beta-decay half-lives of neutron-rich $^{128-130}$Cd isotopes using gamma-ray spectroscopy, providing data crucial for astrophysical r-process modeling near the $N=82$ shell closure.
Contribution
The paper presents new experimental half-life measurements of $^{128-130}$Cd isotopes using the GRIFFIN spectrometer, improving data accuracy for astrophysical r-process simulations.
Findings
Half-lives of $^{128}$Cd and $^{130}$Cd measured as 246.2(21) ms and 126(4) ms.
Half-lives of $^{129}$Cd states measured as 157(8) ms and 147(3) ms.
Results compared with literature and theoretical models.
Abstract
The -decay half-lives of Cd have been measured with the newly commissioned GRIFFIN -ray spectrometer at the TRIUMF-ISAC facility. The time structures of the most intense -rays emitted following the -decay were used to determine the half-lives of Cd and Cd to be ms and ms, respectively. The half-lives of the 3/2 and 11/2 states of Cd were measured to be ms and ms. The half-lives of the Cd isotopes around the shell closure are an important ingredient in astrophysical simulations to derive the magnitude of the second -process abundance peak in the region. Our new results are compared with recent literature values and theoretical calculations.
