Measurement of differential cross sections and $W^+/W^-$ cross-section ratios for $W$ boson production in association with jets at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV with the ATLAS detector
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports precise measurements of $W$ boson production cross sections and charge ratios in association with jets at 8 TeV, providing data crucial for understanding proton structure and testing Standard Model predictions.
Contribution
It presents the first detailed differential cross section measurements of $W$ bosons with jets at 8 TeV, including charge-separated results and ratios with reduced systematic uncertainties.
Findings
Differential cross sections for $W$+jets are measured across multiple observables.
The $W^{+}/W^{-}$ ratio measurement achieves up to nine times better precision.
Results provide valuable constraints on proton parton distribution functions.
Abstract
This paper presents a measurement of the boson production cross section and the cross-section ratio, both in association with jets, in proton-proton collisions at TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is performed in final states containing one electron and missing transverse momentum using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb. Differential cross sections for events with at least one or two jets are presented for a range of observables, including jet transverse momenta and rapidities, the scalar sum of transverse momenta of the visible particles and the missing transverse momentum in the event, and the transverse momentum of the boson. For a subset of the observables, the differential cross sections of positively and negatively charged bosons are measured separately. In the…
