Measurement of D* Production in Diffractive Deep Inelastic Scattering at HERA
Karel Cerny

TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of D* meson production in diffractive deep inelastic scattering at HERA, comparing results with QCD predictions and exploring the ratio of diffractive to inclusive D* production.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed measurement of D* production in diffractive DIS at HERA and tests QCD predictions using diffractive parton densities.
Findings
Measured cross sections agree with NLO QCD predictions.
Determined the diffractive to inclusive D* production ratio.
Validated the collinear factorisation approach in diffractive DIS.
Abstract
Measurements of meson production in diffractive deep inelastic scattering are presented which are based on HERA data recorded at a centre-of-mass energy with an integrated luminosity of pb collected by the H1 detector. The reaction is studied, where the system , containing at least one meson, is separated from a leading low-mass proton dissociative system by a large rapidity gap. The kinematics of candidates are reconstructed in the decay channel. The measured cross sections compare favourably with next-to-leading order QCD predictions, where charm quarks are produced via boson-gluon fusion and they are independently fragmented to the mesons. The calculations rely on the collinear factorisation theorem and are based on…
