Soft and diffractive scattering
Stefan Gieseke, Patrick Kirchgae{\ss}er, Frasher Loshaj

TL;DR
This paper introduces a new model for soft and diffractive scattering integrated into Herwig's MPI framework, improving the simulation of Minimum Bias and Underlying Event data.
Contribution
The novel model seamlessly incorporates soft and diffractive scattering into Herwig's existing MPI framework, enhancing its predictive capabilities.
Findings
Better description of Minimum Bias data
Improved modeling of Underlying Event phenomena
Seamless integration into existing Monte Carlo framework
Abstract
A model for soft and diffractive scattering is presented which is incorporated seamlessly into the pre-existing MPI model in the Monte Carlo Event Generator Herwig. With the improved model we are able to describe general aspects of Minimum Bias and Underlying Event data.
