Electromagnetic transitions in the algebraic cluster model
R. Bijker, O.A. D\'iaz-Caballero

TL;DR
This paper investigates electromagnetic transition rates in the algebraic cluster model, using shape-phase transitions to explain the comparable strength of interband and intraband quadrupole transitions observed in 12C.
Contribution
It introduces a mechanism based on shape-phase transitions within the algebraic cluster model to account for electromagnetic transition phenomena in 12C.
Findings
Interband and intraband quadrupole transitions have comparable strength.
Shape-phase transitions provide a mechanism for transition rate similarities.
The model explains experimental observations in 12C.
Abstract
We study electromagnetic transition rates in the framework of the algebraic cluster model. The concept of shape-phase transitions is used to propose a mechanism that allows to have interband and intraband quadrupole transitions of comparable strength, as observed in 12C.
