TL;DR
This paper investigates charged-current single pion production cross-sections induced by muon neutrinos and antineutrinos on hydrocarbon targets using the NuWro generator, comparing results with Miner$ u$A experimental data to improve neutrino oscillation background understanding.
Contribution
It provides detailed cross-section calculations for pion production processes using NuWro and compares them with experimental data, enhancing the modeling of neutrino interaction backgrounds.
Findings
Cross-sections calculated with NuWro agree with Miner$ u$A data within uncertainties.
Identifies the role of final state interactions in pion production.
Provides data useful for reducing systematic uncertainties in neutrino oscillation experiments.
Abstract
For a continued progress in the pursuit of neutrino oscillation parameters, we require to have a precise knowledge of the pion production processes which act as a source of backgrounds and systematic uncertainties in neutrino oscillation experiments because pions can mimic a final state electron (positron). Therefore a pion production principal interaction may appear to be quasi-elastic if the pion is absorbed in the final state interactions. Charged-current single pion production processes induced by and interactions with hydrocarbon target has been studied using NuWro event generator and the cross-sections so obtained have been compared with the results of MinerA experiment.
