Redshift and contact forms
Vladimir Chernov, Stefan Nemirovski

TL;DR
This paper establishes a mathematical relationship between redshift in spacetime and contact forms on the space of light rays, providing a new geometric perspective on redshift phenomena.
Contribution
It introduces a novel connection between redshift and contact geometry on the space of light rays in globally hyperbolic spacetimes.
Findings
Redshift equals the ratio of contact forms on the space of light rays.
Provides a geometric interpretation of redshift in terms of contact geometry.
Enhances understanding of spacetime structure through contact forms.
Abstract
It is shown that the redshift between two Cauchy surfaces in a globally hyperbolic spacetime equals the ratio of the associated contact forms on the space of light rays of that spacetime.
