Aharonov-Bohm Scattering by Vortices of Dimensionally-Reduced Yang-Mills Field
Kiyoshi Shiraishi, Atsushi Nakamula

TL;DR
This paper investigates how low-energy fermions scatter off cosmic strings formed from topological Yang-Mills configurations in a dimensionally reduced six-dimensional spacetime.
Contribution
It introduces a novel analysis of Aharonov-Bohm scattering involving vortices arising from compactified higher-dimensional Yang-Mills fields.
Findings
Demonstrates the scattering behavior of fermions by these vortices.
Connects topological gauge configurations to observable scattering phenomena.
Provides insights into the effects of extra dimensions on particle interactions.
Abstract
If two dimensions of six-dimensional space-time are compactified, a topological configuration of Yang-Mills gauge field appears as a cosmic string in four dimensions, whose thickness is of the same order as the size of the compact space. We consider scattering of low-energy fermions by this object.
