A New Upperbound on the Broadcast Rate of Index Coding Problems with Symmetric Neighboring Interference
Mahesh Babu Vaddi, B.Sundar Rajan

TL;DR
This paper introduces a new upper bound on the broadcast rate for index coding problems with symmetric neighboring interference, aligning with known capacity results in specific cases and advancing understanding of the general problem.
Contribution
It provides an algorithm to find optimal parameters for the upper bound, extending previous work and unifying existing capacity results for SUICP-SNI.
Findings
New upper bound on broadcast rate for SUICP-SNI
Algorithm to determine optimal parameters for the bound
Bound coincides with known capacity results in special cases
Abstract
A single unicast index coding problem (SUICP) with symmetric neighboring interference (SNI) has equal number of messages and receivers, the th receiver wanting the th message and having the side-information where is the interference with messages after and messages before its desired message. The single unicast index coding problem with symmetric neighboring interference (SUICP-SNI) is motivated by topological interference management problems in wireless communication networks. Maleki, Cadambe and Jafar obtained the capacity of this SUICP-SNI with tending to infinity and Blasiak, Kleinberg and Lubetzky for the special case of with being finite. Finding the capacity of the SUICP-SNI for arbitrary …
