## TL;DR

This paper presents lattice QCD calculations of the heavy quark potential at finite temperature, analyzing systematic effects in extracting real and imaginary parts using the moment method.

## Contribution

It provides the first detailed lattice study of the heavy quark potential at finite temperature with physical quark masses and examines systematic uncertainties in the extraction method.

## Key findings

- Determined the real and imaginary parts of the potential at various temperatures.
- Identified systematic effects impacting the potential extraction.
- Enhanced understanding of quark interactions in hot QCD environments.

## Abstract

We report on the lattice calculations of the heavy quark potential at $T>0$ in 2+1 flavor QCD at physical quark masses using the Highly Improved Staggered Quark discretization. We study in detail the systematic effects in the determination of the real and imaginary parts of the potential when using the moment method.
