Axion-like particles and e-ASTROGAM
Marco Roncadelli, Giorgio Galanti, Alessandro De Angelis

TL;DR
e-ASTROGAM, a proposed space mission with high sensitivity in the MeV range, could enable groundbreaking measurements to detect axion-like particles, which are potential dark matter candidates, advancing gamma-ray astrophysics.
Contribution
This paper highlights the potential of e-ASTROGAM to perform measurements sensitive to axion-like particles in the MeV/GeV range, a novel application for this mission.
Findings
e-ASTROGAM's sensitivity could lead to discovery of axion-like particles.
Measurements in the MeV/GeV range are crucial for axion-like particle detection.
e-ASTROGAM could significantly impact dark matter research.
Abstract
e-ASTROGAM is a space mission with unprecedented sensitivity to photons in the MeV range, proposed within the ESA M5 call. In this note we describe some measurements sensitive to axion-like particles, for which performance in the MeV/GeV range is of primary importance, and e-ASTROGAM could be the key for discovery. Keywords: Axions. ALPs. Dark-matter candidates. Gamma-ray astrophysics.
