## TL;DR

This paper examines the calculation methods for double parton scattering cross sections, highlighting limitations of the commonly used factorised formula and proposing a more general approach based on the Poisson distribution.

## Contribution

It demonstrates that the factorised formula is only valid at low cross sections and introduces a more accurate method using the Poisson distribution over impact parameter space.

## Key findings

- Factorised formula validity limited to low cross sections
- Proposed Poisson-based approach for more accurate calculations
- Enhanced understanding of double parton scattering cross sections

## Abstract

The calculations of the double parton scattering cross sections are discussed. It is shown that the commonly used factorised formula is valid only in the limit of low cross sections. The applicability of this approximation is studied with a more general approach based on the Poisson distribution averaged over the impact parameter space.
