The semi-classical energy of the Chodos-Thorn string
Jochen Zahn

TL;DR
This paper calculates semi-classical energy corrections for rotating Nambu-Goto strings with endpoint masses, confirming the Regge intercept in large angular momentum limit, with a note on a subsequent correction.
Contribution
It introduces a method to compute semi-classical corrections for strings with masses at the ends, extending previous results on Regge intercepts.
Findings
Recovered the Regge intercept $a = 1 + rac{D-2}{24}$ in the large angular momentum limit
Used quantum field theory on curved space-times to perform calculations
Results are later corrected in a subsequent publication
Abstract
We compute semi-classical corrections to the energy of rotating Nambu-Goto strings with masses at the ends, using methods from quantum field theory on curved space-times. In the limit of large angular momentum, we recover the Regge intercept for dimensional target space previously found for the open and closed string. [Result is wrong and corrected in 1605.07928]
