## TL;DR

This paper investigates the gauge dependence of the effective action within a modified functional renormalization group framework, demonstrating that the effective action remains gauge-dependent on-shell for general gauge theories.

## Contribution

It provides a detailed analysis of gauge dependence issues in the functional renormalization group approach, highlighting limitations in the modified method.

## Key findings

- Effective action remains gauge-dependent on-shell.
- Gauge dependence persists in the modified approach.
- Analysis applies to general gauge theories.

## Abstract

The gauge dependence problem of the effective action for general gauge theories in the framework of a modified functional renormalization group approach proposed recently is studied. It is shown that the effective action remains gauge-dependent on-shell.
