## TL;DR

This paper investigates light baryon strong decays using a quark model with a modified $^3P_0$ operator that incorporates strange suppression, providing insights into decay mechanisms and model extensions.

## Contribution

It introduces a modified $^3P_0$ decay operator including strange suppression and discusses its implications within an extended quark model framework.

## Key findings

- Quantitative decay amplitudes for light baryons computed.
- Strange suppression mechanism effectively incorporated into the decay model.
- Insights into the role of strange quarks in baryon decays.

## Abstract

In this contribution, we present the open-flavor strong decays of light baryons computed within the framework of quark model. The transition amplitudes are computed using a modified $^3P_0$ operator, where a mechanism strange suppression is taken into account. Also we discus the strange suppression within an extension of the quark model.
