Central production of $\rho^{0}$ in $pp$ collisions with single proton diffractive dissociation at the LHC
Piotr Lebiedowicz, Otto Nachtmann, Antoni Szczurek

TL;DR
This paper models inelastic proton-proton collisions producing a $ ho^{0}$ meson at the LHC, estimating backgrounds and comparing with experimental data to aid understanding of meson production mechanisms.
Contribution
It introduces a nonperturbative tensor pomeron/reggeon framework to analyze inelastic $ ho^{0}$ production and estimates background contributions to exclusive reactions at LHC energies.
Findings
The inelastic $pp o p N ho^{0} o p N o p p ho^{0}$ cross section ratio is 7-10%.
Differential distributions for inelastic processes are provided.
The results help investigate the $ ho^{0}$ production mechanism at the LHC.
Abstract
We consider the and processes at LHC energies. Our description is based on the nonperturbative framework of tensor pomeron and tensor reggeon exchanges. We discuss the Drell-Hiida-Deck type mechanism with centrally produced meson associated with a very forward/backward system. The considered processes constitute an inelastic (non-exclusive) background to the reaction in the case when only the centrally produced meson decaying into is measured, the final state protons are not observed, and only rapidity-gap conditions are checked experimentally. We compare our results for the reaction with the experimental data obtained by the H1 collaboration at HERA. We present several differential distributions for the $pp \to pn \rho^{0}…
