TL;DR
This paper calculates how massless scalar waves scatter off higher-dimensional Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black holes on the brane, revealing finite cross sections in spacetimes with more than six dimensions through numerical and analytical methods.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed numerical and analytical analysis of scalar wave scattering on brane-localized higher-dimensional black holes.
Findings
Finite scattering cross sections in spacetimes with >6 dimensions
Numerical phase shifts computed via partial-wave method
Born approximation used for analytical phase shift estimation
Abstract
The scalar scattering cross section is computed for Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black holes on the brane. The cross sections are computed numerically via the partial-wave method. The phase shifts are found numerically and also via the Born approximation. It is shown that spacetimes with more than six dimensions present a finite scattering cross section in all directions.
