Contribution
It introduces a new expression linking photon recycling probability to optical parameters, applicable to device operation analysis.
Findings
Derived a formula relating photon reabsorption to optical parameters
Applied the relation to solar cells and LEDs
Enhanced understanding of radiative balance in optoelectronic devices
Abstract
An expression is derived which links the probability of photon reabsorption (recycling) in a material with other optical parameters. We discuss the application of this relation in several typical situations which are relevant in the operation of devices such as solar cells and light-emitting diodes.
