Some rekarks on the early history of the Albert Einstein Institute
Hubert Goenner

TL;DR
This paper explores the complex history behind the founding of the Albert Einstein Institute, highlighting multiple contributors and challenging simplified narratives, and noting its current status as a leading gravity research institution.
Contribution
It provides a detailed historical account of the institute's founding process, revealing the diverse actors involved and correcting oversimplified historical claims.
Findings
The institute's founding involved many individuals and institutions.
The history of the institute's establishment is more complex than commonly portrayed.
The Albert Einstein Institute is now one of the largest gravity research centers worldwide.
Abstract
The genesis of the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) after German re-unification as described here, shows that the history of the founding of the institute is not as simplistic as claimed e.g., in the presentation by the institute.Quite a few people and institutions have been involved. The institute now seems to be one of the largest institution for research in gravity, worldwide.
