Large deviations in Taylor dispersion
Marcel Kahlen, Andreas Engel, and Christian Van den Broeck

TL;DR
This paper connects Taylor dispersion with empirical distribution theory and uses large deviations to provide a more accurate description of its long-time behavior.
Contribution
It introduces a novel approach linking Taylor dispersion to empirical distributions and applies large deviations theory for improved long-time analysis.
Findings
Derived a new large deviations-based description of Taylor dispersion
Established a theoretical link between dispersion phenomena and empirical distribution theory
Provided more precise long-time regime characterization
Abstract
We establish a link between the phenomenon of Taylor dispersion and the theory of empirical distributions. Using this connection, we derive, upon applying the theory of large deviations, an alternative and much more precise description of the long-time regime for Taylor dispersion.
