TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of charm mixing and $C ext{P}$ violation parameters using $D^0 o K^\pm \pi^\mp$ decays from LHCb data, finding results consistent with $C ext{P}$ symmetry and improving understanding of charm quark behavior.
Contribution
First measurement of charm mixing and $C ext{P}$ violation parameters using $D^0 o K^\pm \pi^\mp$ decays with LHCb data at 7 and 8 TeV, including combined analysis with previous data.
Findings
Data are consistent with $C ext{P}$ symmetry.
Measured mixing parameters with improved precision.
No evidence of $C ext{P}$ violation observed.
Abstract
Measurements of charm mixing and violation parameters from the decay-time-dependent ratio of to decay rates and the charge-conjugate ratio are reported. The analysis uses , and charge-conjugate decays, where , and . The collision data are recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies = 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb. The data are analyzed under three hypotheses: (i) mixing assuming symmetry, (ii) mixing assuming no direct violation in the Cabibbo-favored or doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay amplitudes, and (iii) mixing allowing either direct violation and/or violation in the superpositions of flavor eigenstates defining the mass eigenstates. The data are also…
