TL;DR
This paper calculates the elliptic gluon GTMD distribution within a large nucleus using the McLerran-Venugopalan model and proposes its experimental probing via angular correlations in virtual photon scattering.
Contribution
It provides the first evaluation of the elliptic gluon GTMD inside a large nucleus and links it to measurable angular correlations in scattering experiments.
Findings
Elliptic gluon GTMD can be computed within the McLerran-Venugopalan model.
Angular correlations in virtual photon scattering can probe the elliptic gluon GTMD.
The study offers a new way to access gluon distributions inside nuclei.
Abstract
We evaluate the elliptic gluon Generalized Transverse Momentum Dependent(GTMD) distribution inside a large nucleus using the McLerran-Venugopalan model. We further show that this gluon distribution can be probed through the angular correlation in virtual photon quasi-elastic scattering on a nucleus.
