Direct photon-hadron correlation measurement and a way towards photon-triggered jets at RHIC
Nihar Ranjan Sahoo (For the STAR Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper presents measurements of direct photon-hadron correlations and discusses a method to study photon-triggered jets at RHIC, providing insights into jet quenching and energy loss in quark-gluon plasma.
Contribution
It introduces a measurement approach for photon-triggered jets at RHIC and compares photon and pion triggers in heavy-ion collisions to probe medium effects.
Findings
Similar suppression patterns for photon and pion triggers.
Results agree with energy-loss model predictions.
Ongoing studies aim to better understand in-medium energy redistribution.
Abstract
We report the results of and -hadron azimuthal correlations as a measure of the away-side jet-like correlated yields in central Au+Au and p+p collisions at =200 GeV in the STAR experiment. The charged-hadron per-trigger yields at mid-rapidity with respect to high- and in central Au+Au collisions are compared with p+p collisions. Within uncertainties, the same (~ / ) dependence of the suppression is observed for and - triggers. The results are compared with energy-loss model predictions. The measurements can provide further understanding on the redistribution of in-medium energy loss. Ongoing studies in the STAR experiment are also discussed.
