TL;DR
This paper reports a highly precise measurement of the $CP$ asymmetry in $D^0 ightarrow K^-K^+$ decays using LHCb data, finding no evidence of $CP$ violation and improving the precision of previous results.
Contribution
First measurement of $CP$ asymmetry in $D^0 ightarrow K^-K^+$ decays with unprecedented precision from a single experiment.
Findings
Measured $A_{CP}(K^-K^+)$ as (0.14±0.15(stat)±0.10(syst))%
Combined results yield $A_{CP}(K^-K^+)$ as (0.04±0.12(stat)±0.10(syst))%
No evidence of $CP$ violation observed in the charm sector
Abstract
A measurement of the time-integrated asymmetry in the Cabibbo-suppressed decay is performed using pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The flavour of the charm meson at production is determined from the charge of the pion in and decays. The time-integrated asymmetry is obtained assuming negligible violation in charm mixing and in Cabibbo-favoured , and decays used as calibration channels. It is found to be . A combination of this result with previous LHCb measurements yields…
