Search for electroweak production of charginos in final states with two tau leptons in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV
CMS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports a search for electroweak production of supersymmetric particles with two tau leptons in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV, setting limits on chargino and slepton masses based on CMS data.
Contribution
It presents the first limits on chargino and tau slepton production in final states with two tau leptons at 8 TeV, using simplified SUSY models and CMS data.
Findings
Excluded chargino masses below 420 GeV for massless neutralino.
Excluded chargino masses up to 325 GeV for neutralino masses up to 100 GeV.
Placed constraints on tau slepton pair production cross section.
Abstract
Results are presented from a search for the electroweak production of supersymmetric particles in pp collisions in final states with two tau leptons. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity between 18.1 inverse femtobarns and 19.6 inverse femtobarns depending on the final state of tau lepton decays, at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The observed event yields in the signal regions are consistent with the expected standard model backgrounds. The results are interpreted using simplified models describing the pair production and decays of charginos or tau sleptons. For models describing the pair production of the lightest chargino, exclusion limits are obtained in the plane of chargino mass vs. neutralino mass under the following assumptions: the chargino decays into third-generation sleptons, which are taken as the lightest sleptons, and the…
