Chen Cheng, Ju-Jun Xie, and Xu Cao

TL;DR
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of pion-proton reactions near threshold, focusing on the role of the $a_1(1260)$ resonance, modeled as a dynamically generated state, and compares calculations with experimental data.
Contribution
The study introduces a model describing $a_1(1260)$ as a dynamically generated resonance from coupled channel interactions, reproducing experimental cross sections.
Findings
The model reproduces experimental total cross sections.
The $a_1(1260)$ is confirmed as a dynamically generated state.
Predictions for differential cross sections are provided.
Abstract
We report on a theoretical study of the and reactions near threshold within an effective Lagrangian approach. The production process is described by -channel meson exchange. For the reaction, the final results from the decay of the resonance which is assumed as a dynamically generated state from the and coupled channel interactions. We calculate the total cross section of the reaction. It is shown that, with the coupling constant of the to channel obtained from the chiral unitary theory and a cut off parameter GeV in the form factors, the experimental measurement can be reproduced. Furthermore, the total and differential cross sections of $\pi^- p \to a^-_1(1260) p…
