TL;DR
This paper assigns quantum states to higher charmed mesons and studies their strong decay patterns using heavy meson effective theory, providing predictions for future experimental validation.
Contribution
It is the first to classify these higher charmed mesons as specific excited states and analyze their decay ratios with a theoretical framework.
Findings
Predicted decay ratios for $D^*_1(2680)$, $D_3^*(2760)$, and $D_2^*(3000)$.
Provided theoretical decay patterns to compare with future experimental data.
Clarified the quantum state assignments of these higher charmed mesons.
Abstract
In this article, we assign the higher charmed mesons , and to be the 2S , 1D and 1F states, respectively, and study the two-body strong decays to the ground state charmed mesons and light pseudoscalar mesons with the heavy meson effective theory. We obtain the ratios among the strong decays, which can be confronted to the experimental data in the future and shed light on the nature of those higher charmed mesons.
