An elementary approach to electromagnetic momentum in matter
Rodrigo Medina, J.Stephany

TL;DR
This paper provides an accessible explanation of electromagnetic momentum transfer to conductors in polarizable media, confirming that Minkowski's momentum density aligns with conservation principles.
Contribution
It offers an elementary derivation supporting Minkowski's momentum density as the correct description in matter.
Findings
Momentum transfer to conducting sheets is consistent with Minkowski's formulation.
Conservation of momentum is validated within the presented framework.
The approach simplifies understanding of electromagnetic momentum in media.
Abstract
We present an elementary discussion of the momentum transferred to a conducting sheet by an electromagnetic wave propagating in a polarizable medium. We show that conservation of momentum is consistent with Minkowski's expression for the momentum density.
