TL;DR
This paper examines the assumptions behind frequency-domain models of traveling wave tubes, compares them with a new time domain model, and tests their consistency with Maxwell's equations.
Contribution
It introduces a new time domain model for TWTs and evaluates its consistency with Maxwell equations compared to traditional frequency-domain models.
Findings
Frequency-domain models' assumptions are tested against Maxwell's equations.
The new time domain model offers a different perspective on TWT behavior.
Abstract
We discuss the envelope modulation assumption of frequency-domain models of traveling wave tubes (TWTs) and test its consistency with the Maxwell equations. We compare the predictions of usual frequency-domain models with those of a new time domain model of the TWT.
