Findings
Identifies thermodynamic stability regions for the BTZ black hole.
Discovers a second order phase transition between BTZ black hole and thermal AdS3.
Analyzes phase structure using geometrothermodynamic methods.
Abstract
We investigate the thermodynamics as well as thermodynamic geometry of chargeless BTZ black hole solution in new massive gravity. Phase structure and thermodynamic stability of the system is analyzed using the Geometrothermodynamic approach. The phase transition between BTZ black hole space time and thermal AdS soliton is studied using the same approach and the existence of a second order phase transition is examined.
