It introduces a new analytical framework for optimizing booster pump operation, addressing energy efficiency in water supply systems.
Findings
Derived conditions for optimal pump operation.
Potential energy savings in booster systems.
Applicable to multi-story and public buildings.
Abstract
The operation of pumps and booster systems accounts for 10% of the yearly energy consumption in Europe. Booster systems are used to ensure the water supply in multi-story buildings, office buildings and public institutions. The question arises how to operate a booster system in order to achieve an optimum in power consumption. In the present paper we derive the conditions for optimal operation.
