D-meson production in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV and in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures prompt D-meson production cross sections in p-Pb and pp collisions at LHC energies, compares them to theoretical models, and finds the nuclear modification factor consistent with no suppression within uncertainties.
Contribution
First measurement of D-meson production cross sections in p-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV and in pp at 7 TeV, including detailed differential cross sections and nuclear modification factors.
Findings
Nuclear modification factor R_pPb is compatible with unity.
D-meson production cross sections are measured across a wide p_T range.
Results agree with models including cold nuclear matter effects.
Abstract
The production cross sections of the prompt charmed mesons D, D, D and D were measured at mid-rapidity in p-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. D mesons were reconstructed from their decays D, D, D, D, and their charge conjugates. The -differential production cross sections were measured at mid-rapidity in the interval GeV/ for D, D and D mesons and in GeV/ for D mesons, using an analysis method based on the selection of decay topologies displaced from the interaction vertex. The production cross sections of the D, D and D mesons were also measured in…
