A discussion on approximations for the determination of the maximum period of a simple pendulum
Rog\'erio Netto Suave, Jos\'e Alexandre Nogueira

TL;DR
This paper discusses the importance of careful approximation choices when calculating the maximum period of a simple pendulum, emphasizing the impact of neglected terms on accuracy.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of approximation methods used in deriving the maximum period formula for a simple pendulum.
Findings
Highlighting the significance of specific terms in the period calculation.
Guidelines for selecting appropriate approximations in pendulum analysis.
Potential errors introduced by common approximation assumptions.
Abstract
In this paper we deal with the care one must have in adopting approximations in regard with terms he chooses to leave behind in the particular case of the expression valid for the maximum period of a long pendulum oscillating near Earth's surface.
