Search for lepton-flavour-violating decays of the Higgs and $Z$ bosons with the ATLAS detector
ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports on searches for lepton-flavour-violating decays of the Higgs and Z bosons using ATLAS data, setting upper limits on their branching ratios due to no observed excess.
Contribution
First search for lepton-flavour-violating decays of Higgs and Z bosons with ATLAS at 8 TeV, establishing new upper limits on their branching ratios.
Findings
No significant excess observed in the data.
Upper limits set on branching ratios: Br(H→eτ)<1.04%, Br(H→μτ)<1.43%, Br(Z→μτ)<1.69×10⁻⁵.
Abstract
Direct searches for lepton flavour violation in decays of the Higgs and bosons with the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. The following three decays are considered: , , and . The searches are based on the data sample of proton--proton collisions collected by the ATLAS detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb at a centre-of-mass energy of TeV. No significant excess is observed, and upper limits on the lepton-flavour-violating branching ratios are set at the 95% confidence level: Br 1.04%, Br 1.43%, and Br 1.69 10.
