TL;DR
This paper reformulates phenomenological Lagrangians with broken symmetries using gauge field theory and demonstrates the equivalence of Dirac p-branes descriptions in terms of gauge multiplets and symmetry breaking.
Contribution
It introduces a gauge-theoretic reformulation of phenomenological Lagrangians and establishes the equivalence of two descriptions of Dirac p-branes involving symmetry breaking.
Findings
Reformulation of phenomenological Lagrangians in gauge theory terms
Equivalence between gauge multiplet description and dynamical system description of p-branes
Identification of symmetry breaking pattern for Dirac p-branes
Abstract
Phenomenological Lagrangians for physical systems with spontaneously broken symmetries are reformulated in terms of gauge field theory. Description of the Dirac -branes in terms of the Yang-Mills-Cartan gauge multiplets interacting with gravity, is proved to be equivalent to their description as a closed dynamical system with the symmetry spontaneously broken to .
