TL;DR
This study analyzes Kepler K2 Campaign 3 data to understand RR Lyrae stars, identifying a candidate triple-mode RRab star with multiple excited overtones, contributing to stellar variability research.
Contribution
First comprehensive analysis of K2 Campaign 3 RR Lyrae stars, discovering a candidate triple-mode RRab star with multiple excited overtones.
Findings
Identification of a candidate triple-mode RRab star
Detection of first and ninth overtones being excited
Assessment of the statistical properties of the RR Lyrae sample
Abstract
We have started a comprehensive analysis of the Kepler K2 Field 3 data set. Our goals are to assess the statistics of the sample, and to search for peculiar stars. We found a candidate triple-mode RRab star, where the first and ninth overtones also seem to be excited.
