Single production of $X_{\pm 5/3}$ and $Y_{\mp 4/3}$ vectorlike quarks at the LHC
Chuan-Hung Chen, Takaaki Nomura

TL;DR
This paper investigates the single production of specific vector-like quarks at the LHC, analyzing their production cross sections, decay modes, and potential signals, while also addressing implications for the 750 GeV diphoton excess and flavor-changing neutral currents.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of electroweak single production cross sections and decay signatures of vector-like quarks, highlighting their detectability at the LHC and implications for new physics.
Findings
Electroweak production cross sections can reach over 80 fb for 1 TeV VLQs.
Dominant decay modes are into (c,t)W+ and (s,b)W- channels.
Significance for certain channels can exceed 5 sigma with proper cuts.
Abstract
Two triplet vector-like quarks (VLQs) with hypercharges of and one singlet scalar boson are embedded in the standard model (SM) to resolve the 750 GeV diphoton excess. The constraints on the tree-level Higgs- and -mediated flavor-changing neutral currents are discussed in detail. Besides the resolution of excess, it is found that the signal strength of diphoton Higgs decay can have a deviation from the SM prediction and that the upper limits of the branching ratios for rare top-quark decays are . We find that the production cross section of a single VLQ by electroweak processes is larger than that of VLQ-pair by QCD processes. To explore the signals of the heavy VLQs at the LHC, we throughly analyze the production of single and via annihilations in collisions at…
