TL;DR
This paper introduces a new curve called a trisectrix, derived from a carpenter's square method, enabling angle trisection with a specialized compass, expanding geometric construction tools.
Contribution
It defines a novel trisectrix curve based on classical angle trisection techniques and proposes a practical compass design for drawing it.
Findings
Defined a new trisectrix curve.
Proposed a compass for constructing the curve.
Connected classical angle trisection with modern geometric tools.
Abstract
In 1928 Henry Scudder described how to use a carpenter's square to trisect an angle. We use the ideas behind Scudder's technique to define a trisectrix---a curve that can be used to trisect an angle. We also describe a compass that could be used to draw the curve.
