Li-Ye Xiao, Fan Ouyang, Xian-Hui Zhong

TL;DR
This paper uses a chiral quark model to analyze $ obreak ext{π}^- ext{p} ightarrow ext{K}^0 ext{Λ}$ and $ ext{η} ext{n}$ reactions, explaining cross section features and resonance contributions up to 1.8 GeV energy.
Contribution
It provides a combined analysis of two reactions within a chiral quark model, highlighting the roles of specific nucleon resonances and interference effects.
Findings
Constructive interference of $N(1535)S_{11}$ and $N(1650)S_{11}$ explains threshold peak.
$N(1520)D_{13}$ influences angular distributions.
Possible evidence for narrow $N(1720)P_{13}$ resonance at higher energies.
Abstract
A combined analysis of the reactions and is carried out with a chiral quark model. The data in the center-of-mass (c.m.) energy range from threshold up to GeV are reasonably described. For , it is found that and paly crucial roles near threshold. The resonance contributes to the reaction through configuration mixing with . The constructive interference between and is responsible for the peak structure around threshold in the total cross section. The -pole, - and -channel backgrounds provide significant contributions to the reaction as well. While, for the process, the "first peak" in the total cross section is dominant by , which has a sizeable destructive…
