TL;DR
This paper proposes a straightforward method for continuously measuring the phonon number in nanoelectromechanical systems without destroying the quantum state, enabling detailed statistical analysis of phonon populations.
Contribution
It introduces a simple scheme for quantum non-demolition measurement of phonons in NEMS, advancing quantum measurement techniques in nanoelectromechanics.
Findings
Enables continuous QND measurement of phonons
Allows statistical analysis of phonon number distributions
Provides a practical approach for quantum state monitoring
Abstract
In this work we describe a scheme to perform a continuous over time quantum non demolition (QND) mea- surement of the number of phonons of a nanoelectromechanical system (NEMS). Our scheme also allows us to describe the statistics of the number of phonons.
