Semi-elastic cross section for a scalar resonance of mass 750 GeV
I. Sahin

TL;DR
This paper explores the production of a hypothetical 750 GeV scalar boson via semi-elastic processes at the LHC, analyzing its couplings to photons and Z bosons to understand potential signals beyond the Standard Model.
Contribution
It provides a calculation of the semi-elastic production cross section for a new scalar resonance and discusses how this process can probe its couplings to photons and Z bosons.
Findings
Cross section for semi-elastic production derived.
Constraints on phi-photon and phi-Z couplings discussed.
Potential to detect or constrain the scalar resonance at colliders.
Abstract
We assume that the recently reported excess over Standard Model expectations in the diphoton production is originated from a new scalar boson phi which interacts with photons through the coupling proportional to phi F^2. We obtain the cross section for semi-elastic production process pp-> p gamma p-> p phi q X by considering phi-photon-photon and phi-photon-Z couplings and discuss the constraints on the coupling parameters. We investigate the potential of the semi-elastic production process to probe phi-photon-photon and phi-photon-Z.
