Direct-photon+hadron correlations to study parton energy loss with the STAR experiment
Nihar Ranjan Sahoo (STAR collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper presents measurements of direct photon and neutral pion correlations with hadrons in central Au+Au and p+p collisions at 200 GeV, revealing how jet suppression varies with momentum fractions and comparing results with theoretical models.
Contribution
It provides new detailed measurements of away-side jet suppression in heavy-ion collisions, extending the analysis to lower z_T values and comparing with model predictions.
Findings
Suppression of away-side yields decreases at lower z_T.
Yields depend on both associated and trigger particle momenta.
Results are consistent with jet quenching models.
Abstract
We report new results of +hadron and +hadron azimuthal correlations as a measure of the away-side jet-like correlated yields in central Au+Au and p+p collisions at = 200 GeV in the STAR experiment from years 2011 and 2009 of data taking, respectively. The charged-hadron per-trigger yields at mid-rapidity and for transverse momenta ~GeV/ associated with ~ and ~(for triggers 0.9, 12 20 GeV/) in central Au+Au collisions are compared with p+p collisions. The () dependence, now extending down to =0.1, of the suppression of the away-side associated yields is presented. We observed that the suppression of away-side associated yields tends to vanish at lower \zT. The dependence of the suppression on both…
